Valentine (Jacob Druckman) performed by Lisa Dowling

More bass-as-percussion, this time with a mallet and vocal effects, brought to life by Lisa Dowling at the Manhattan School of Music.

‘The Wonderful Widow of Eighteen Springs’ and ‘A Flower’ (John Cage) performed by Lisa Dowling

In which Lisa Dowling uses the percussive aspects of her bass exclusively while singing.

Note the towel on the strings. I suspect that’s there to keep the strings from vibrating while  she uses the bass as a drum. Clever.
